Engineering resources for a better RFQ.
Practical checklists for drawings, materials, tolerances and inspection—written to reduce back-and-forth before production.
PDF · STEP · IGES · DWGStart with a clearer requirement.
The fastest quotation comes from a complete package. These guides help engineers and buyers prepare the information that changes process, price and lead time.
Drawing package
What an RFQ should include. Geometry, material, critical features, quantity and documentation requirements—in one reviewable package.
Read the checklistMaterial selection
Carbide, HSS or tool steel?. Match the grade to wear, impact, corrosion and heat-treatment requirements rather than defaulting to the hardest option.
Read the checklistTolerance
Specifying what must be controlled. Identify critical dimensions, mating features and the inspection method instead of tightening every dimension.
Read the checklistInspection
Building a useful report. Agree the characteristics, sampling, instrument and record format before the first article is inspected.
Read the checklistWhat to send before we quote.
A complete enquiry is not a long email. It is a clear package with the requirements that affect manufacturing and inspection.
01 / Drawing package
Send a dimensioned 2D drawing and, where available, a 3D model. PDF, STEP, IGES, DWG, DXF and ZIP files are accepted. Mark the revision and identify the features that control fit or function.
If the part is a replacement, include the original part number or a sample photo. If the drawing is incomplete, say which dimensions are reference only.
02 / Material & heat treatment
State the material grade, hardness and heat-treatment requirement. If the grade is open, describe the application—abrasion, impact, corrosion, operating temperature and expected service life—so the recommendation can be justified.
Material certificates and heat-treatment records can be requested at RFQ.
03 / Tolerances & critical features
Identify the dimensions that must be controlled. A blanket tight tolerance can add cost without improving function; a critical feature left unspecified can create fitting problems later.
Include geometric requirements such as concentricity, straightness, parallelism and surface finish where they matter.
04 / Inspection & documentation
Tell us whether you need a dimensional report, material certificate, heat-treatment record, first-article report or compliance documentation. Specify the characteristics to be recorded and the acceptable sampling method.
For regulated or export-sensitive projects, include the destination market and any required declaration format.
05 / Commercial context
Include prototype or production status, initial quantity, expected repeat volume and target date. This helps us recommend a practical sample and production route rather than quote against an isolated quantity.
Questions before the first order.
If your question is not covered here, send it with the drawing. Technical answers are part of the quotation process.
What is your minimum order quantity?
Many custom parts can start from one piece, subject to drawing review. For complex or material-specific work, we confirm the practical minimum with the quotation.
Can you manufacture from our drawing?
Yes. We manufacture to 2D and 3D drawings in PDF, STEP, IGES, DWG or DXF. Send the drawing, material, hardness, critical tolerances, quantity and target date with your RFQ.
Do you offer standard catalog parts?
Our focus is custom manufacture to drawing. If you have an existing part number or sample, include it with the enquiry so we can review the geometry and requirements.
How long does sampling and production take?
Sampling and batch lead times depend on geometry, material, heat treatment and quantity. We confirm the schedule after drawing review rather than quote an unrealistic blanket lead time.
Can you sign an NDA before we share drawings?
Yes. We can review and sign an NDA before receiving confidential drawings or models.
What quality documentation is available?
The factory operates under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Material certificates, heat-treatment records, dimensional inspection reports and compliance documentation can be agreed at RFQ according to the part and destination market.
Have a drawing? Let’s engineer the part.
Send the geometry, material and quantities. We will review manufacturability, confirm the critical features and come back with a practical quotation path.
